The weekend of 24th & 25th June was quite unforgettable with a beautiful location and loads of activities on offer. From snorkelling to mammoth SUP boards, SUP yoga to hula hooping, there was something to please any water sport enthusiast, and some good ideas for future activity days.
A team of volunteers manned our display, taking time out now and then to take part in the activities. For a small fee, visitors could try numerous water sports on a calm sea, and though the wind stayed around for the whole weekend, the sun shone brightly on Sunday and brought with it lots of people, many supporting the South Milton Sands Run/Swim.
There was a lot of interest in what we do and our new promotional material went down well, so a big thank you to Jill Borrow for getting it all produced in time, and for sorting out all the relevant paperwork.
This is an annual event organised by the National Trust which gave us the opportunity to promote ourselves and build networks with other likeminded groups. All activities were under £5, some were free and all carried out under the watchful eye of instructors. There was plenty for the children to do too, and as the beach is an all year round dog friendly one. it is an ideal event for the whole family. Something for you to think about when we put out the plea for volunteers next year.
On behalf of the committee I would like to thank all those people who gave up their time and energy to promote us with such enthusiasm. Thanks also to Helen for the loan of the gazebo and to Kay for the cakes.
Well done ladies
